Guwahati, Nov. 27: The international Senior Vice President of the Vishva
Hindu Parishad (VHP) has alleged that foreign churches have been
providing financial help to the insurgent groups in North East to
destabilize the region. Mr. Giriraj Kishor made the statement during a
press conference in Guwahati today that foreign churches had been
providing financial help to the National Socialist Council Nagaland
(Issac-Muivah) (NSCN-IM) and the National Socialist Council of
Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) with an eye to creating an adverse situation
in the region.

?Despite having ample proof, the ruling National Democratic Alliance
(NDA) government is yet to take any pragmatic step?, the senior leader
said. Mr. Kishor also revealed that the then United Front government in
India had conducted an enquiry into the matter in 1996 but that,
strangely enough, no action was initiated to publish the report.

In this context, he alleged that the Indo-Burma and Indo-Bangladesh
border has remained open and that the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI)
of Pakistan abetted militancy in the country leading to the death of
hundreds of innocent people.

Expressing concern at the ongoing atrocities meted out to Hindus in
Bangladesh after the Khaleda Zia Government assumed office, Mr Kishor
said: ?We will be compelled to drive out the Bangladeshi living in
various parts of the country. We have enough strength to push them back
to their country?. Meanwhile, the VHP has set a deadline for building a
Ram temple in Ayodha by next March. The NDA government had already been
informed, Mr. Kishor stated, adding that the programme would be started
in March January 2002.

The VHP, a world cultural organization for promotion and preservation of
Indian culture, is a sister organization of the Rashtriya Sevak Sangh
(RSS), which ?stands for the spread of Hindu culture? and aims ?uniting
and rejuvenating the Indian nation? through a ?strong and united Hindu
society?. Both organizations are closely affiliated to the Bharatiya
Janata Party (the main ruling party in India), the political arm of the
movement.
