Rangoon, July 6: Democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma might be
freed from house arrest before July 19, an informed source said in the
capital Rangoon on Friday.

The democracy leader, under detention with no less than four
ministers of Burma's ruling military junta, the source said under
condition of anonymity. The expected release is seen as a direct result
of that dialogue, the source said. Since June, Suu Kyi has left her
residential compound, where she is detained, at least four times under
escort of a military intelligence officer.

July 19, or Martyr's Day, is celebrated annually in Burma to
commemorate the assassination anniversary of the country's independence
leader and first Prime Minister, Aung san, and most of his cabinet in
1947.

Aung San was Aung San Suu Kyi's father.

Ms Suu Kyi was put under house arrest by the military junta
after a popular democracy uprising under her leadership was crushed by
the Army in 1988, resulting in the death, wounding or arrest of
thousands of democracy demonstrators.

Meanwhile, seven members of Opposition National League for
Democracy party, was released from jail bringing the total number of the
released in recent weeks to 29.

A military government spokesman said the seven politicians,
elected in a 1990 general election, were released because of
understanding reached between the ruling military and the NLD in recent
talks.

"The remaining seven NLD MPs staying at government guesthouse
in Rangoon have left the guesthouses to return home to their families,
the spokesman said.
