Myanmar not to allow anti-India activity

Myanmar has assured India that it would not allow its territory to be
used by extremists for anti-India activities.
The assurance was given by the visiting Myanmarese Home Minister,
Col.Tin Hlaing, during his meeting with the Union Home Minister,
Mr.L.K.Advani, here today.
During discussions, Mr.Advani impressed upon his Myanmarese counterpart
the need for further strengthening cooperation between the two countries
on launching joint operations to contain the activities of the
militants.
The two Ministers also reviewed Indo-Myanmar cooperation with regard to
border management and control of insurgency in the border areas.
They stressed the need for further expending the scope for economic
cooperation between the two countries.
Earlier, Col. Hlaing also met the External Affairs Minister, Mr.Jaswant
Singh, the Defence Minister, Mr. George Fernandes and the Minister of
state for Personnel, Ms.Vasundhara Raje Scindia.
