Myanmese Leader to Visit China
Xinhua, Beijing, 1 June 2000. Maung Aye, vice chairman of the
State Peace and Development Council of Myanmar, will pay an
official visit to China from June 5 to 12 at the invitation of Chinese
Vice President Hu Jintao.
This is announced here today by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman
Zhang Qiyue at a regular press conference.
Zhang said that the coming June 8 will mark the 50th anniversary of the
establishment of the diplomatic ties between China and Myanmar.
In addition to meeting Chinese leaders, Maung Aye will also attend
activities in commemoration of the anniversary during his visit.
