what are they afraid of, that someone will come and blow up the Total
ship? gee, that would really too bad. i mean, who would the burmese
bastards kill for that if they couldnt catch the pirates? pirate war.
pirates against pirates. would sort of seem like the thing to do, in an
uncivilized world. hell, the french blew up the rainbow warrior in
australia, and killed a portuguese photographer. remember? maybe it
would be time to see a french ship go down. but that would be wrong,
right?

RADIO MYANMAR: FISHING BOATS WARNED TO STAY AWAY FROM TOTAL DRILLING 
SITE

Text of report by Burmese radio on 10th January 

The Total Myanmar [Burma] Oil Exploration Company is engaged in offshore 
oil exploration activities at Block M-8. The drilling ship Energy 
Searcher will begin drilling M-8A1 test well from 15th January to 15th 
March 2000. 

In order to prevent untoward incidents the Fisheries Department has 
issued a mariner's notice warning all fishing trawlers and maritime 
vessels to avoid the oil drilling zone.
