Meaningful Contribution and Constructive Cooperation
Required To Develop Myanmar For The Myanmar People
It is regretful that the development of the people
of Myanmar is being hampered by the same political
party expressing its desire of bestowing Myanmar
People with human rights but in reality depriving the
Myanmar people of their rights to development and
prosperity. It is most essential for Myanmar to be
able to maintain its peace and stability and to be
able to go into the development phases. For a third
world country like Myanmar to be able to become a
developed nation, much effort on her part and support
and assistance as well as understanding from the world
community are necessary to be able to rejoin the
mainstream in the development and creation of a better
and fuller life for its population in a shorter
period of time. In this new millennium the Government
of Myanmar together with the people of Myanmar urges
NLD to contribute in a more meaningful and
constructive way in the development of Myanmar and
the Myanmar people.
It is hopeful that the NLD would contribute
responsibly in joining forces together with the
Government and in laying the foundation of a
democratic system which is suited to Myanmar's
culture and national security. It is also time for
the world community to reconsider for whose interests
the policy of inviting or imposing sanctions and
boycotts do serve.
As the country's stability and prosperity grow,
economic opportunities will grow so that its
political system will be able to develop. In this
regard, the Government together with the people of
Myanmar hopes that in this new millennium NLD would
participate and contribute in a positive and
meaningful way in achieving the common goals of
becoming a thriving economy and a stable,
multiparty- democratic system. It is now the time
for a responsible and constructive cooperation with
the aim of helping the country move forward in a much
faster pace rather than slowing the country's
economic development with sanctions and boycotts.
