(1) 12th Governing Council Meeting of CIRDAP Held in Bagan-NyaungU
The 12th Governing Council Meeting of the Centre of Integrated Rural
Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) was held at the Bagan Hotel in
Bagan-NyaungU, Mandalay Division on 4 December.Present on the
occasion were Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation
Deputy Ministers,heads of department, representatives
of CIRDAP member countries-- Afghanistan, Bangladesh,
Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan,
the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam--and other
invited guests. Director-General of CIRDAP Dr.AVS
Reddy presented a report on functions of CIRDAP, and
the participants took part in discussions about
implementation of the minutes of the previous
meeting. They reviewed functions of the technical
committee and discussed plans to be made by the 20th
meeting of the executive committee and CIRDAP's future
tasks.
(2) Lao Delegation Visits Primary School
Under the arrangement jointly made by the Ministry of
Health and UNICEF, a six-member study delegation from
Lao People's Democratic Republic, together with
Director of Central Health Education Division, visited
No.3 Basic Education Primary School, Bahan on 4
December. The delegation members observed school-based
sanitation works, international level teachings by
using Multimedia Teaching Centre, rooms of
entertainment, arts, domestic science, music, school
health education and works being carried out for
school health, culture and health cooperation and
practical health education, and outstanding
performances in education.
(3) 26th Convocation of IM 2
The Institute of Medicine (Yangon) held 26th
Convocation at Convocation Hall of Yangon University
on 4 December. Rector Dr.Tha Hla Shwe conferred
doctorate, post-graduate and MBBS degrees on 200
graduates and made a speech on the occasion.
(4) Fifth Leg of Myanmar London Golf Tour Goes on
The Fifth Leg of Myanmar London Golf Tour, organized
by Myanmar Golf Federation and Myanmar Professional
Golfers' Association and sponsored by Rothmans of Pall
Mall Myanmar Pte. Ltd, continued for the third round
at Golden Triangle Golf Club in
Kengtung,Shan State(East)on 4 December.After the third
round of the professional golfers' level in the tour,
defending champion Myint Thaung was leading at first
place with 221 strokes, followed by Win Aung at
second with 227, Aung Win and former three times
champion Win Naing Tun tied at third with 229. Min
Naing (Communication) was leading at first place with
221 strokes after the third round of men's amateur
level, Min Lagun Aen at second with 228, Win Naing at
third with 231, Zaw Zaw Win (Han Golf Masters Pte
Ltd) at fourth with 235 and Zaw Paing Oo
(Communication) at fifth with 236. In third round of
the tour, Sai Htaung Playing together with Kyaw Oo and
win Ngwe in the men's amateur level scored
hole-in-one from a distance of 168 yards at Hole No 8.
The final round of the tour continues on 5 December.
