Manipur Christians protest against atrocities on minorities

The Christians in Manipur staged a silent protest rally in Imphal
recently. The mass protest rally was organised by the All Manipur
Christian
Organisation (AMCO). 

The mass rally started from the Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) and
passed through the main streets of Imphal. The rallyists carried
placards
such as ?Stop killing Christians?, ?Protect freedom of religion?, ?We
condemn killings of priest Christians,? ?We march for peace,? Love and
unity,?
?Christians respect all religions? ?Indian Christians are Indians?, etc. 

Hundreds of the school children and college students took part in the
rally. Some Catholic leader including the fathers and nuns also took
part in
the rally. 

The rally later converged at the Mapal Kangjeibung for a public meeting.
Father Josheph of Bishop House, Imphal, Rev. S. Prim Vaiphei, Rev. J. H.
Thumra, Rev. S. K. Hoskey, Th. Kumar (missionary) and Rev. Chungthang
Thick of the All Manipur Christian Organisation spoke at the meeting. 

The speakers expressed their cencern regarding the discrimination
against the minority community in the State. They also condemned the
recent
merciless killing of a Christian leader in Orissa. 

They also appealed to the Christian and other communities to stop
discrimination against each other in Manipur as well as in the
North-Eastern
region on religious grounds.
