people were shot and wounded when village volunteers were mobilised to
break up a protest by a group of Thai villagers in front of a holding
centre for Burmese students at Ban Maneeloy.<br>
Volunteers moved in at about 7pm after villagers gathered in front of the
camp to oppose Burmese students protesting against police treatment of a
colleague accused of stealing a duck from a local.<br>
Gunshots rang out as the volunteers moved in to separate the two protests
and three people were taken to hospital with wounds.<br>
