-USDA World Rice Trade Outlook (r)



Did you know this: according to official figures that in before 1975
there were 67 millions hectares of which 840 000 only were cultivated,
and only 10.5% irrigated. From 65 -1970, agricultural production
actually increased 1.8%;8 millions tons of rice on 4.92 millions of
hectares in 1972, producing only 1.5 tons/hectare as compared to french
production of 4t/ha. Rice production occupied only one third of the
river lands.
