Myanmar-Indonesia bilateral trade f



Myanmar-Indonesia bilateral trade falls sharply  
 
Xinhua, Yangon, 4 November 1999. The bilateral trade between Myanmar and
Indonesia reached 82.42 million U.S. dollars in the first half of this year,
falling by 35.2 percent from the same period of last year when it was 127.2
million dollars.

Of the total, Myanmar's imports from Indonesia amounted to 61.35 million
dollars, dropping by 48.43 percent from the corresponding period of last year
which was 118.97 million dollars, according to the latest figures of the
Official Economic Indicators. 

Meanwhile, Myanmar's exports to Indonesia came to 21.07 million dollars, up 156
percent compared with the same period of last year when it showed 8.23 million
dollars. the figures also reveal that in 1998, the bilateral trade stood at
223.99 million dollars, of which Myanmar's imports from Indonesia represented
206.23 million dollars while its exports to Indonesia took up 17.76 million
dollars. The figures also indicate that in the past five years, Myanmar drew
238.797 million dollars' investment from Indonesia in 10 projects.
