Jian Zemin, Chinese President visit

Subject: Jian Zemin, Chinese President visits Chirac and France -Oct 22-26/Day 2

First, a correction. Jack Lang DID invite him to the French National
Assembly, and they gave him what is described in the papers, a warm
welcome. Reporteurs sans frontieres president Robert Menard, continues
among others, Francois Holland, (PS) to strongly denounce the visit of
the Chinese dictator, chef d'etat, head of the army and head of the
communist party.

Last night Jiang Zemin dined with Raymond Barre, mayor of Lyon, in Lyon.
You should recall Barre is formerly on Total international payroll, and
also enjoyed the hospitality of Mobutu. Chirac is having lunch with him
today, and they pass the weeknend together in his small chateau in
Corrèze, part of his private-personal five day stay in FRANCE.

French elite snipers were on the rooftops as french security personnel
closed off and evcuated entire streets and houses near the mayor's
building, in Lyon, and the hotel where the Chinese dictator was booked.

Raymond BArre on Radio Monte Carlo defends the french interests saying
that you cannot not ignore "one billion people". Business is business.
