**Myanmar's Minister for ASEAN Economic Affairs attended the meeting
between ASEAN Economic Ministers and Industrial Cooperation Committee of
Japan in Singapore.

Myanmar delegation also had informal discussions with the trade ministers
of Australia and New Zealand as well as the ASEAN dialogue partners. An
appraisal committee was formed and assigned duties to set up a free trade
area encompassing ASEAN regions as well as Australia and New Zealand by the
Year 2010.

The Indian cabinet decided last June to import more pulses and beans for
its growing local consumption. (An Indian) State owned body National
Co-operative Agriculture Marketing Federation, responsible for importing
pulses and beans is well convinced with a government-government arrangement
with Myanmar. Also Myanmar sold pulses and beans to India in its last
shipment at a lower price than in local market.

Last year India imported around 500,000 tons of pulses and beans mainly by
the private Indian traders.

1007-04 Myanmar Fish Demand High In Bangladesh
**Myanmar fishes especially hilsa and crap variety is carrying good price
in Bangladesh province of Cox Bazaar.

Myanmar hilsa fish come mostly from the western Rakhine province, bordering
Bangladesh. The hilsa fish can give a per ton price of US$ 750 to 800.

As Myanmar hilsa fish cannot meet the growing demand, other variety of
craps from Yangon, Rakhine and Bago provinces have to be substituted. Crap
fish get per ton price of US$600 in Bangladesh.

**There are five species of Chinese maize cultivated in 300 acres of farm
at a suburb of Lashio city, the east northern Shan state capital.

New Chinese maize species can guarantee a per acre yield of over 70 bushels.
