Shouldnt there be a Free Burma welcoming committee in front of the
FRench UN embassy in NYC? Especially after the French govt gave
Total and Desmarest the go ahead in recent takeover.

Or doesnt it matter? I think it does. And NYC Burma groups should
be out there to show it.


2 Leaders Salute Paris-Algiers Ties

                      UNITED NATIONS, New York - The leaders of France
and Algeria
                      hailed a return to more friendly relations on
Tuesday after nearly a
                      decade of tension over civil strife and repression
in the former French
                      North African colony.

                      After a working breakfast at UN headquarters,
President Abdelaziz
                      Bouteflika of Algeria and Prime Minister Lionel
Jospin of France told
                      reporters that relations were returning to normal.
But they announced no
                      practical measures to improve ties. 

                      The two leaders said that President Jacques Chirac
of France would
                      make a state visit to Algeria and that Mr.
Bouteflika would visit France
                      but set no dates.
