Dear Burma Net Editor,

I'm Min Lwin, as Secretary General of OMNSO would like to sent to you the
statement of demonstration for distribution, respectfully.

THE STATEMENT FOR THE BLOODY DAY OF THE SEIZING STATE POWER THE (8/8/88)
PRO-DEMOCRACY UPRISING OF BURMA

Date;18th September 1999

Because of the Revolutionary Council of Burma led by General Ne Win as a
chairman ruled the country also as a dictator, the Burmese military leaders
had
destroyed the natural resources and sent the Union of Burma to be the poorest
country of the world. Therefore, the (8/8/88) pro-democracy uprising was
flared
up through out on the whole country on the 8th of August in 1988 for demanding
democracy.
While the students, monks and people were demanding for democracy
politically and peacefully, the Burmese military led by General Saw Maung
seized the state power by force in killing the countless innocent students,
monks and people cruelly on the 18th of September in 1988.
We, never forget about that bloody event and have welcomed the
(9/9/99)
pro-democracy uprising of Burma Embassy from 3rd and 8th to 18th September
1999
and entered to the
HUNGER-STRIKE.
We, OMNSO, decisively demand to the nefarious State Peace and Development
Council of Burma such as in the following points for honoring the late
students
who have given their lives on the 18th of September 1988 in Burma at the 11th
anniversary of the bloody day of the seizing the state power in the (8/8/88)
pro-democracy uprising of Burma in front of the Burmese Embassy in Bangkok on
the 18th of September 1999.
To respect the result of the 1990 May General Election and to open the
parliament for convening as soon as possible.
To release Mon elected house representatives and strong organizers for
democracy, especially name of MD chairman Nai Tun Thein, elected house
representative of Thanphyuzayat, vice-chairman Nai Ngwe Thein, secretary
general Dr. Min Soe Lin, elected house representative of Ye, and joint
secretary general Dr. Min Kyi Win, elected house representative of Mudon, Mon
State.
To confer the self-determination to Mon people in Mon land.

                                         Central Executive Committee
                                           Overseas Mon National Students
