Myanmar to release two Australian prisoners : Australian embassy
BANGKOK, Sept 10 (AFP) - Myanmar will release two Australian prisoners
Friday on compassionate grounds, an embassy official said.
The official confirmed the two prisoners would be deported immediately after
their release.
No names were given for the two prisoners, but the official said one had
been in jail for about a year, while the other had been behind bars for
several months
The source said Myanmar authorities had confirmed to the Australian
ambassador that access to jailed democracy activist James Mawdsley who also
holds British citizenship "had been agreed for next week."
