0908-01 Panamanian Company Invested Over US$ 30 Million In Myanmar
**Managing Director Of Thilawa Cement and Building Materials Ltd met with
the head of Myanma Investment Commission in Yangon on 6th September to
discuss the work progress.

The Thilawa Cement and Building Materials Ltd is a 100% investment by
Panamanian company Zarembo SA. The company is engaged in production and
distribution of bagged cement, ready mix concrete and pre cast. The total
investment is over US$ 30 million in Myanmar.

0908-02 Myanmar Singapore Integration for Port Construction
**Secretary of Myanma Investment Commission discusses investment matters in
Yangon on 6th August with the Project Manager of the Myanmar Integrated
Port Services Pte Ltd.

The Myanmar Integrated Port Services Pte Ltd is 100% Singaporean investment
in Myanmar. They are engaged in the construction and operation of wharfs
and related facilities. Singapore has a number of investments in Myanmar
business, mostly in manufacturing and Hotels and tourism sectors.

0908-03 Anti-TB Drugs Soon Distributed in Myanmar
**Mega Products Ltd, a Thai investment company, engaged in pharmaceutical
business in Myanmar will soon distribute AKT-3, the latest innovated drug
for curing tuberculosis   in the country.

The company disclosed the plan at the Symposium on Recent Advances in the
Management of Tuberculosis, organized by the Myanmar Medical Association
and Lupin Laboratories Ltd (India).

The Mega Products Ltd is engaged in distribution of pharmaceuticals,
medical supplies, cosmetics, healthcare, and food and consumer products. It
is ISO 9002 certified company and has branch offices in Myanmar, Vietnam
and Cambodia. The company will soon embark on production plan as the local
sales potential increase.

0908-04 Mandalay Industrialization Planned
**Ministry of Industry-1 will in near future start a new soap factory and a
cement production plant in and around Mandalay, the capital city of upper
Myanmar.

The soap factory is expected to boost the soap production of the Ministry,
whose earlier products are quite popular among the Myanmar population.

The cement factory meanwhile will be built near a lime stone hill about 30
km off Mandalay. The expected daily production capacity of the factory is
400 tons.

Ministry of Industry-1 also has textile, beer, coffee, and food
preservation factories among others, in this region.

0908-05 Sunflowers ?  from Myanmar?
**New species of sunflowers provided by FAO (Food & Agricultural
Organization) is giving promising yield this year in central Myanmar.

Central Myanmar arid region serves as a fertile ground for cotton, maize,
sunflower, sesame, wheat, pulses and beans, peanut and several crops. These
crops carry good export price. The average yield of sunflower in central
Myanmar region this year is over 30 bushels per acre.
