<DIV CLASS = NSCOPY ALIGN=LEFT><spacer type=horizontal size=20>Members of
Burma's democratic movement living in exile will gather in Fort Wayne on
Sunday to discuss proposals to counter the military dictatorship that has
run their country, now called Myanmar, since 1962.
<BR>
<BR>
<spacer type=horizontal size=20>Organized by Fort Wayne's Burmese
residents, the largest community of Burmese living in exile, the Freedom
for Burma 9999 seminar will bring together academic experts and Burmese
student groups and elected officials from all over the United States, Japan
and Canada, said local organizer Maung Maung Win. The Unitarian
Universalist Congregation of Fort Wayne is helping to house some of the
visitors, he said.

<spacer type=horizontal size=20>The exiles want to use legal and political
tools to oust the dictatorship, he said, including lawsuits filed in the
World Court and sanctions against its military government by the United
States.

<spacer type=horizontal size=20>"The main reason is to sue the military
junta, and we need the support of the American government and people," he
said.

<spacer type=horizontal size=20>People are invited to attend the conference
11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday at Walb Memorial Union Ballroom at <A
HREF="http://www.indiana.edu/"; target=_top>Indiana University </A>Purdue
University, 2101 Coliseum Blvd. E. A free lunch will be provided.
