Moreh, Border Town of India<br>

All of the passes between two border towns, Moreh and Tamu have been shut
down by the military Junta since 8 September. It will affect up to 10
September. No business people from Tamu did not cross the border today.

All of the Burmese prodemocracy groups in Moreh were having to hide from
the local Manipur police. 144 order has been imposed in Moreh by the
Additional District Commissioner. The whole day and night, Manipur Police
men were wandering the Burmese students in the downtown area of Moreh.
This morning, some policemen found the Burmese students who were taking
refuge at the Moreh Buddhist Monastery. After that, seven Burmese
students were picked up by the Moreh police. They are been now kept at
Moreh police station.&nbsp; According to a reliable source, all arrested
Students will be released tomorrow.<br>

The action to keep the Burmese student's movement on 9 September has been
already ordered from the Manipur Home Ministry. But, nearly hundred of
the Manipur students of the Solidarity Committee for Democracy in Burma
did a demonstration against the Burmese military junta. Mr. Sotin Kumar,
Secretary of the Solidarity Committee for Democracy in Burma chaired the
function and several student leaders also delivered the speeches. The
function was held at the Moreh Buddhist Monastery from where seven
Burmese students were arrested by the Maipur Police. <br>

This afternoon, having marched up to No-1 gate of Moreh, several Burmese
women from ABSDF and BWU shouted the slogans and tearing and burning
several photographs of Ne Win, Than Shwe, and Khin Nyut. The local women
from Kuki Women Front also joined with the Burmese women. <br>

Tamu, the border town of Burma<br>

All of the schools, offices and markets have been closed down by the Tamu
authorities since 8 September. Armed personals from army, police and Lohn
Htein are deployed more along the border. Curfew is also imposed. Any
significant agitation was found. But, anti-military posters and papers
were stitched on the public areas. No buses are allowed to leave
Tamu.<br>

The curfew has been imposed in Tun Zan, Ha Kha, Ti Tain and Matupi of
Chin State since 6 September. Appeal letters to Tattmadaw, Workers,
Students and Public were distributed by unknown students and people. A
witness said they mentioned they are belong to 9999 Committee and
Patriotic Youth and Students (Upper Burma)<br>

Several army officers were warned seriously by Rangoon because some
delayed to report in time. <br>

The flood situation in Maw Like and Phon Pyin<br>

12 Evacuation Centers for the flood victims have been established since
31 August. At present nearly 1000 people are taking refuge there.&nbsp;
Only one Pyi (about 2 Kgs) of rice was provided by the government. No
other facilities and aids are provided. The local authorities are
pressuring to the merchants to negotiate the rice price. Now, one pyi of
rice is sold at 150 Kyats. Nonetheless, the rice problem is increasing
there.<br>
