**Toshiba, a popular brand in Myanmar had been permitted to put up an
assembly plant in Yangon. This Toshiba Electronic Company will set up its
plant at the Mingaladon Industrial Zone, approximately 12 miles off the
Yangon city center. Spare parts for the installation of goods will be
imported from Southeast Asian countries. This factory will start with
progressive assembly plan, starting with MKD (Monkey Knock Down) then SKD
(Semi Knock Down) and so on.

This is a 100% Singaporean investment, with Japan Toshiba Corporation's
technical assistance.

Toshiba follows the lead of Daewoo Corporation of the Republic of Korea who
had established its electronics goods assembly plant in Yangon.

**Ferryboats are now plying the Sittwe and Mrauk Oo areas both near the
Bangladesh border. This will be for the convenience of tourists as well as
to businessmen-traders travelling to Myanmar-Bangladesh border areas.

The ferries are equipped with modern equipment and luxuries such as air
conditioners and television sets. The ferries have seating capacities of
50 persons.

Travelers may reach Sittwe by plane from Yangon and reach Mrauk Oo in
shorter time through the ferries.

Sittwe and Mrauk Oo are popular spots for both for local and foreign
tourists. Ancient pagodas and other structures are found here and tourist
traffic has increased in more recent times.

preparing for internet connection very soon, the Cyber Café will function
as an internet café same as with its foreign neighbors.
