Citizens and Public Administration in the Information Age:
Constructing Citizen-Oriented Society for the Future,
August 18-20, 1999, Tampere, Finland

Dear Colleagues
This is to remind you that CIPA'99 -- "Citizens and Public
Administration in the Information Age: Constructing Citizen-Oriented
Society for the Future" -- conference will be held from 18th to 20th
August, 1999, at the University of Tampere, Tampere, Finland.
Preliminary program, list of accepted papers and registration form is
available at http://www.uta.fi/laitokset/hallinto/CIPA99 .
There are currently about 50 papers or presentations in the program,
coming from a variety of different countries, representing different
scholarly ideas, traditions, perspectives, and different practical
contexts and concerns. Based on this variety, we expect to have an
interesting and intriguing discussions and exchange of ideas.
The key issues to be discussed during the three day conference are:
"what is the role of citizens and public administration in the
information age" and "how can we use modern information and
communication technologies, organizational principles, and knowledge
in order to create and secure a citizen-oriented open society for the
future".
