Burma detains three year old

The human rights organisation, Amnesty International, has expressed concern
about the welfare of a three-year-old girl who it says was arrested by the
Burmese authorities.

It described her as the world's youngest prisoner of conscience and warned
she could suffer serious physical and psychological damage.

Amnesty said the girl Thaint Wunna Khin was being held with her mother and
eighteen others.

They were arrested in Pegu in central Burma this month on suspicion of
planning a march.

Amnesty International described the girl as a hostage who was being held to
force her father out of hiding.
