Myanmar, ROK to enhance forest-sector 
cooperation


YANGON, 22 July- Myanmar and the Republic of 
Korea today agreed to enhance cooperation in 
the forest sector.


    Director-General of Forest Department of 
the Ministry of Forestry Dr Kyaw Tint and 
Director-General of Forestry Policy Bureau 
of Forestry Administration of ROK Mr Park Jung 
Sik signed the contract on Arrangement between 
Forest Administration of ROK and the Ministry 
of Forestry of Myanmar Concerning Cooperation 
in the field of forestry at Forest Department 
this morning.


    Present on the occasion were Deputy Minister 
for Forestry Col Thaik Tun and Administrator of 
Forestry Administration of ROK Mr Kim Dong Keun 
and officials.


Mr Kim Dong Keun and party will also visit 
Bagan-NyaungU to study setting up of forest 
plantations in NyaungU Township with the 
assistance of Korean-based Korea International; 
Cooperation Agency (KOICA).


    They will also visit the arid region greening 
projects being undertaken by the government, 
other greening projects being implemented with 
the help of intentional organizations and Popa 
Mountain Park.


    The Korean delegation led by Mr Kim Dong-keum 
arrived here by air yesterday evening.


    Members of the delegation were welcomed at 
Yangon International Airport by Col Thaik Tun, 
heads of department, Ambassador of Korea Mr Chung 
Jung Gum and officials.
