Secretary-1 inspects development of Kayin State

YANGON. 10 July-Chairman of Work Committee for Development of Border Areas 
and .National Races Secretary- 1 of the State Peace and Development Council 
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt left here for Hpa-an, Kayin State, by Tatmadaw aircraft 
this morning and arrived there at 9 am. 

In his address, secretary -1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt said today, people are 
enjoying the fruits of peace and stability prevailing all over the country, 
and as there is peace in Kayin State, the region is also having good progress.

He spoke of emergence of armed insurrection as the ill legacy of colonialism 
after having fallen under colonial rule for over 100 years and the successive 
government?s efforts to end the armed insurrection, and noted that due to 
suspicions among national brethren. misunderstanding, political cult and 
extreme racism, the efforts to make peace had not been successful.


One of the main causes obvious for failure of those peace efforts was the 
neocolonialists? giving assistance and support to the armed groups to have 
more extreme ideologies and cause greater suspicion he said and added that 
Tatmadaw, after taking up State duties in 1988, lunched offensives against 
BCPs at Mongyang and KNUs at Methawaw to fight the two groups who wanted to 
capitalize politically.

Then, Phado Aung San reported on agriculture, livestock breeding and 
development of the region, Minister Col Thein Nyunt on tasks being carried 
out with the assistance of the State for regional development.


In giving instructions, the Secretary-l spoke of the need for all to be in 
unity for increase in economic under-takingand for well-being of families.


If agricultural and livestock breeding works are successful, living standard 
of the people will be uplifted and good economic foundations be established, 
he.said and added he was delighted to see success of agricultural and 
livestock breeding works of the village.


The Secretary-l and Phado Aung San then exchanged changed souvenirs.The 
Secretary-l cordially met with U Saw Tha Mu He and fulfilled requirements of 
farming equipment. Next, the Secretary-l inspected primary school of the 
village and poultry farms.


They then proceeded to No 1 Tyre and Rubber Factory where they were welcomed 
by Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, departmental officials, USDA 

members and local people.


Maj-Gen Saw Lwin reported on works being carried out for meeting targets for 
production and Managing Director of Myanma Tyre and Rubber Industries Lt-Col 
U Zun on the factory and production.


After this he said the Tatmadaw started to carry out national reconsolidating 
tasks for perpetuation of the unity of the national brethren residing in the 
Union. The Secretary-l inspected special intensive care unit, operation 
theatre and annexe of the hospital.


The Secretary-l and party also inspected construction of Yadanadipa Ward No 9 
of Hap-an. Then, they left for Yangon and arrived back in the afternoon. 
Secretary-General of USDA U Than Aung, USDA CEC members Brig-Gen Maung Maung 
Thein, Brig-Gen Ohn Myint, Col Thein Nyunt, Brig-Gen Khin Maung and Brig-Gen 
Thein Aung, who were accompanying the Secretary-l, inspected computer room of 
Kayin State USDA Office and gave instructions on community works and training 
courses to be carried out.


Deputy Minister for Finance and Revenue Brig-Gen Than Tun met service 
personnel of departments under the ministry at Hpa-an Myanma Insurance Office 
this morning and inspected Hpa-an Myanma Economic Bank.
