66-KV power grid put into service in Bahmo


YANGON, 22 June - A ceremony to put 66-KV power 
grid into service in Kyaukpahto-Shwegu-Bahmo 
region was held at the power sub-station in Bahmo 
yesterday morning.


    Present on the occasion were Chairman of 
Kachin State Peace and Development Council 
Commander of Northern Command Maj-Gen Kyaw Win, 
Brig-Gen Tin Soe and senior military officers 
of Bahmo Station, Chairman of Bahmo District 
Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Myo Swe 
and members, authorities of Bahmo, Shwegu, 
Moemauk and Mansi Townships, departmental 
personnel, locals and national races
exceeding 60,000.


    Commander Maj-Gen Kyaw Win made an opening 
speech.


    Brig-Gen Tin Soe and Assistant Chief Engineer 
of Kachin State Myanma Electric Power Enterprise 
U Soe Myint Lwin formally opened the power 
sub-station.


    That 66 KV Power Grid has 152.87-mile-long 
cable, and it was built at a cost of 2.596 million 
US dollars and K 275.775 million provided by the 
Government and K 3.51 million contributed by the 
public beginning May 1996.


    Now, power can be supplied to Bahmo, Moemauk 
and Shwegu round the clock.
