		Regarding Human Rights Violations by SPDC Troops
														May 3, 1999

Toungoo District
*29-3-99: Troops from SPDC IB 232 extorted a bag of rice, 15 viss of 
pork and a viss of chicken from Thaw-pweh village.
*4.4.99: Troops from SPDC IB 59 seized 25 villagers of Gor-theh-doe 
village and forced them to came supplies to Bu-hsa-kee military camp.
*5.4.99: Troops from SPDC IB 26 set up abase in Klor-me-doe village. 
They sent for village leader of Keh-doe, Hu-mu-doe and Ler-kla-doe 
villages and detained them up to this day.

Doo-pla-ya District
*20.2.99: A land mine, set by SPDC LIB 355 at In-pet-taw near 
Un-phat-gyi village of Kaw-ka-reik Township, killed villager, Naw Mu 
Ker, (55,F ).
*22.2.99: Company 4 commander, Thuta Swe, and a scrgeant from IB 231 
seized villager, Mauns Ngwe Yee (40,M) and a friend from Myo-haung 
village of Kaw-ka-reik Township and tortured them for many hours. 
Finally , they struck maung Ngwe Yee with a machete, wounding him 
seriously.
*23-2-99: Company 1 commander Maung Maung Ta and group from SPDC IB 
231 seized villager Maung Shin and Saw Nya Wah, from Da-blu-ko-kee 
village of Kaw-ka-reik Township, and executed them after torture, 
without  reason.
*5-3-99: Troops led by Captain San Lone from SPDC LIB 202 came to 
Mae-kor-kee village and looter (1)from par Nee Kay, 38,M,  a gold 
chain weighing 1 by 2 tickle, 73, 060 Kyat cash, 10 rice  cooking 
pots 20 dinner plates, 16condensed milk tins, 3 viss of sugar and 
clothes, (2)from Naw Tor Ku Poe, 59, F 5 cooking pots, dinner plates, 
and clothes, (3) from Saw Cut Kyay, 32, M 6,000 Kyat cash, (4) from 
Saw Dit Dee, 36, M, 40,000 Kyat cash, (5) from Par Htwi Dee, 32, M, 6 
cooking pots and 6 dinner plates, and (6)from Par Dit Oo, 32, M, 10 
cooking pots and 13 dinner plates.
*9.4.99: A land mine, set near Set-ka-wet  village by SPDC IB 231, 
was stepped on by the villager Saw Nyunt Maung, at about 10:46 a.m. 
Both his legs were cut off by the blast. He later died at 1:00 p.m. 
on the same day.
*10-4-99: Troops from SPDC LIB 208 destroyed by burning a cart and 5 
houses situated between Yauk-ka-kya and Mae-ka-thort villages. They 
extorted 50,000 Kyat cash from the villagers and drove out people of 
the 2 villages by force, for relocation in other villages.

Tha-ton District
* 6.4.99: Major Moe Kyaw Soe and troops from SPDC LIB 3 issued orders 
to the villages in Shway -yaung-bya village tract to send in paddy to 
Pan-aung-gon village, at the rate of 6 baskets per acre, tilled.
*19.4.99 Captain Shway Yaung Por and troops from SPDC LIB 230 
extorted from Ber-wah-hta-hser villagers, Maung Kyaw Par 5,000 Kyat, 
Naw Ma Chaw a pig weighing 20 viss, Naw Khin Win 2 chickens, 2 
bottles of cooking oil, a basked of rice, and a dinner plate, Naw Ber 
Li 2 bottles of cooking oil, Naw Than Myint a basket of rice, and Naw 
Mu Nor a tin of rice and a chicken. In addition, they beat up 
villagers Waw Par Bo 22, and Saw Mor Kway 26, until their heads 
turned red with blood.

Doo-Pla-ya District
* From 17-3-99: to 21-4-99: troops led by Lieutenant Colonel Kyaw Win 
from IB 284 carried out forced relocation in Win-yay Township, 
driving villagers from (1) Zee-hna-pin to Yeh-da-goon, (2) Yeh-paw, 
Ta-nyin and Tharn-bya to A-nan-gwin, (3) War-mor-lay to Taung-zun, 
(4) Tat-daying to Chaung-zone, and (5) A-pa-lone to Meh-za-li Some of 
the affected villagers went with the forced relocation, but some 
chose to flee, away from the SPDC troops, into the jungles and live 
in hiding. 
*13.4.99: Troops led by Battalion Commander Hla Win from SPDC IB 62 
came to Saw-plaw village in Kaw-ka-reik Township, in the evening, and 
burnt down all the houses, together with the belongings of the 
villagers.
* The military column of combined forces from SPCD IB 231 and led by 
Major Aung Khaing, had been operating in the environs of Set-ka-wet, 
Meh-pa-ler-poe-kee, Thay-por-ur-kee and Mee-pa-laing villages of 
Kaw-ka-reik Township. The troops from the column seized and forced 
the villagers to serve as porters, regularly. On 14-4-99, at about 
9a.m., the troops shot to death Saw Law Be, 35, a villager of 
Ywa-dan-shay- because he could no longer carry loads.
*14.4.99: Troops from SPDC LIB 201 destroyed 5 houses and a 
bullock cart in Raw-ka-kya village, by burning. On the same day, the 
troops summoned the villagers of Meh-ka-taw and Set-ka-wet villages 
and extorted 50,000 Kyat from each village, as porter fees.
