Free Burma Groups Join With Tibet and Taiwan Groups Against the Chinese
Government

8 April, 1999 - Washington, D.C.
Rangoon Post

In solidarity, DC-Burma Activists Group, Free Burma Coalition joined
with 9 Taiwanese groups, the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) and
Non-violence International to protest China's excessive human rights
abuses and freedom for Taiwan and Tibet to recognized as their own
independent countries.

Speakers for ICT, the Formosan Association of Public Affairs and the
American head of the Free China Movement all gave supporting speaches
reinterating the concerns that the U.S. allows China to get away with
human rights violations for U.S. economic reasons while taking away
Taiwan's voice to speak for its self.

U.S. Secretary of State Madalene Albright mistakenly stated that
Taiwan is part of China, when the time Taiwan was part of China is when
they invaded over 600 years ago. The same pattern of attack and control
China tried with Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Burma over the past 6
centuries.
