Disagreements within the Inner Circle

Intelligence is the life of a government but in Burma, ruled by the military
government, there seems to be disagreements about recent developments
including SPDC's inhumane treatment towards Opposition Leader Aung San Suu
Kyi who just tragically lost her husband Michael Aris who was refused a
visit visa to enter Burma just for the purpose of seeing his beloved wife
before he died. Intelligence reports reveal that Lt. General Khin Nyunt
wanted to reverse what happened about the inhumane treatment of Aung San
Suu Kyi. Yet it was not up to him to decide what was to be done in terms of
issuing a visa to Michael Aris to visit Burma.Senior officials seem to
disagree with the idea of issuing a visa to Michael Aris. It was somebody
above who decided not to issue the visa to Michael Aris. Obviously there are
two factions in the SPDC, one hardliners' group who wants to prescribe the
same inhumane policy towards Aung San Suu Kyi and the international
community and the other group who have a moderate tendency and want to
change the status quo step by step.

The recent trip by the most senior official of the SPDC to Thailand was a
stunning point we have to ponder.Who is behind the army and who is really
controlling the SPDC is not a question but the inner circle who are the
moderate high ranking officers are now complaining,if not audibly, about the
harsh policies that have darkened the regime's image. Sometimes I wonder why
"change" cannot be acceptable when there is no support within and without
the country. Whoever is behind the scene to prescribe such harsh but
outdated and non-working policies towards the opposition and the
international community should now realize that "It Is Now or Never".
