Rites for Suu Kyi's husband held in Yangon

Pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi led family, friends and
diplomats in Yangon in Buddhist religious rites Friday for her late
husband Michael Aris, who died last Saturday in London.
     The ceremonies, highlighted by the serving of lunch to 53
Buddhist monks in Suu Kyi's family compound, were attended by
Japanese Ambassador Kazuo Asakai as well as ambassadors from
Australia, Germany, and France and others. The United States was
represented by Charge D'affaires Kent Wiedemann.
