NEW ENGLAND BURMA ROUNDTABLE

February 3, 1998

Several Members of Congress have signed on to an amicus brief to be filed
in Federal Appeals in support of the Massachusetts Burma Law. We need to
persuade many more to sign on as well.

SHORT DEADLINE! 5PM, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 4 !!

WHAT TO SAY

- Tell them that a bipartisan group of Representatives and Senators are
signing on to an amicus brief, to be filed in Federal Appeals Court, in
support of the Massachusetts Burma selective purchasing law.

- Ask your Representative or Senators to join them. Tell them that this is
important that Congress support the rights of cities and states not to do
business with companies that support repressive dictatorships.

- If your Representative is a Democrat, mention that the House Minority
Leader David Bonior is a signatory of the amicus brief.
