(1)		Secretary (1)  Receives Chairman of JETRO
		Secretary -1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt
received Chairman Mr Noboru Hatakeyama and party of Japan External Trade
Organization (JETRO) who call at Dagon Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defence at
10 am on 27 November.

(2)		Korea-Myanmar Modern  and Cultural Festival Commences
		The 27-29 November Korea-Myanmar Modern and Cultural Festival Commenced in
the National Theatre on Myoma Kyaung Street at 6.30 pm on 27 November. Mr
Hyung Oh No and Mr Kang Sank Suh Hyung of Korea Performer News extended
greetings to the dignitaries and guests. The festival featured dances of the
four Korean dancers, hair styling fashion by 10 Korean fashion girls, pop
singer Kim Jong Hun's songs and fashion show by 15 Korean girls.

(3)		PRC Company to Conduct Gold, Copper Mining Feasibility Study in Kachin
State
		For the first time a Chinese firm will take part in Myanmar's mining sector,
agreeing to conduct feasibility study to find gold and copper deposits at two
sites in Kachin State. Liaoning Jin Di Construction Consortium Co Ltd of the
People's Republic of China will launch the survey at Block 6, Sinbo Nankesan
region, Waingmaw Township, Myitkyina District, and at Block 7 at Bhamo Myothit
region, BhamoTownship. The company would be permitted to buy shares of the
business from the government stock after successful completion of the study,
Minister for Mines said at the signing ceremony held on 27 November morning.
The company is also engaged in mining operations in the regions of America,
Asia and Africa. Director-General of Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration
Department and Vice-President of the company Mr Han Zhiming signed the
contract at the Ministry of Mines. 

(4)		Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar (CLM) Industrial Cooperation Seminar Commences
		A ceremony to open Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar( CLM) Industrial Cooperation
Seminar jointly sponsored by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and
Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) of Japan was held at the
Sedona Hotel in Yangon on 27 November.  The seminar will focus on strategies
for competitive industrial production, strategies for further improving
market-oriented economic system by promoting investment and trading,
strategies for environmental preservation and bilateral cooperation on
mutually beneficial basis between two nations.  

(5)		Workshop on Oceanography of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea
Concludes
		The workshop on Oceanography of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea
jointly conducted by scientists of Myanmar and India was held for final day in
the Diamond Jubilee Hall of Yangon University on 27 November. Indian
scientists Dr Sp Sharma and Dr AN Nath and Myanmar scientists Professor of
Marine Biology Department of Mawlamyine University Dr Swe Thwin, Lecturer of
Geography Department of Yangon University Daw Khin Aye Lwin, Associate
Professor of Geology Department of Mawlamyine University U Than Naing, Deputy
Director of Meteorology and Hydrology Department Dr San Hla Thaw and Professor
of Geography Department of Mawlamyine University U Maung Maung Aye submitted
papers.

(6)		Singapore Armed Forces Delegation Concludes Visit to Myanmar
		The delegation of Temasek Society of Singapore Armed Forces left Yangon for
Singapore by air on 27 November evening. The Singapore delegation visited
pagodas and the Archaeological Museum in Bagan, Atumashi Golden Temple and
Mandalay Hill, Defence Services Academy and Defence Services Institute of
Technology in PyinOoLwin and Taunggyi and Inlay Lake in Shan State. They
visited the Defence Services Museum, Myanmar Gems Emporium, Bogyoke Aung San
Market and Shwedagon Pagoda. They also made donations toward the funds of the
pagoda.

(7)		MPT, Iridium SEA Co Ltd Sign Service Provider Agreement
		Myanma Posts and Telecommunications and Iridium South-East Asia Company
Limited of Thailand signed a Service Provider Agreement on 27 November.
General Manager of MPT  and Chief Engineer of Iridium South-East Asia Company
Ltd Mr Piyabutra Vasudhara explained the agreement and exchanged documents.
(8)		Minister Unveils Signboards of Education Colleges
		Ceremonies to unveil signboards of Thingangyun Education College and Yankin
Education College under the Education Planning and Training Department of the
Ministry of Education were held at the respective colleges on 27 November.
Minister for Education formally unveiled the signboards. Teachers training
institutes and schools were upgraded to colleges in September 1998, and
ceremonies to unveil signboards of 19 education colleges were held at the
respective colleges through out the country on 27 November.

(9)		Chairman of MIC Receives Consultant of Seoul R & D
		Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission Vice-Admiral met Consultant Mr Jae
Hoo Lee of Seoul R & D of the Republic of Korea who called at his office at
10.30 am on 27 November. They discussed matters of Technology in automobile
production  and engineering works.

(10)		Minister Meets Jetro Chairman 
		Minister for Communications Posts and Telegraphs met Chairman Mr Noboru
Hatakeyama and party of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) of Japan who
called at his office at 3.30 pm on 27 November.
