UN envoy tells Burma it can't conceal reality



The United Nations special envoy on Burma, Rajsoomer Lallah, has said the
Burmese military junta cannot conceal from the international community the
reality of the situation in their country.

Mr Lallah was speaking in Thailand, where he's visiting camps sheltering
Burmese refugees.

He has been consistently refused permission to enter Burma itself.

His comments come amid reports that the UN and World Bank are planning to
offer financial inducements to the junta to engage in dialogue with the
National League for Democracy, led by Aung San Suu Kyi.
