YANGON (Nov. 12) XINHUA - The Myanmar and Bangladesh
governments
Thursday reached here an agreement on the inland boundary of
the northern part
               of the Naaf River.

The agreement was signed by Myanmar Foreign Minister U Ohn
Gyaw and his
visiting Bangladesh counterpart Abdus Samad Azad on behalf
of their respective
governments, the Myanmar News Agency reported Thursday.

The signing of the agreement took place after the two
ministers exchanged views
on matters of mutual interest, it said.

Myanmar and Bangladesh carried out boundary survey and
demarcation on the
inland boundary of the northern part of the Naaf River in
1984.

The Myanmar-Bangladesh boundary is made up of the Naaf River
part and the
               inland part.

The Naaf River part of the boundary has been designated as a
fixed boundary
according to an agreement signed in 1966.

Meanwhile, Vice-Chairman of the Myanmar State Peace and
Development
Council General Maung Aye met with the visiting Bangladesh
foreign minister
               Thursday evening.

The Bangladesh foreign minister arrived here Wednesday on a
three-day visit to
Myanmar for the second time since September 1996 at the
invitation of his
               Myanmar counterpart U Ohn Gyaw.
