The reasons why there would have been some disagreements within SPDC
could be established if you look at the list of members of the newly
formed "Political Committee" headed by Lt.Gen Khin Nyunt. You will find
out that Khin Nyunt have included (3) members of the SPDC (Lt.Gen Win
Myint, Secretary(3) SPDC and Gen.Khin Maung Than,Commander of Rangoon
Commmand,Member SPDC) including himself and (4) Cabinet Ministers plus
one Deputy Cabinet Minister. ( See attached list for reference ).

The formation of this committe has posed a direct challenge to the
principles of the formation of SPDC where it intention was to keep any
of the Cabinet Ministers away from the direct influence from any members
of the SPDC with the exception from Senior Gen. Than Shwe who is the
Prime Minister as well as the Defence Minster.
