Mercedes seized
Wassayos Ngarmkham
Police yesterday seized a Mercedes-Benz suspected to be a stolen
car from an officer of the Supreme Command.
The white 500 SEL was seized from Maj Chalermchai Matchaklam
after he arrived at Robinson Department Store on Ratchadaphisek
road in Huay Khwang district yesterday evening.
Maj Chalermchai had earlier been accused of involvement in a market
extortion case in Chiang Mai. The case involved an extortion gang
which preyed on hundreds of vendors at the province's Night Bazaar
market between November 1995 and May 1996. The gang was
allegedly under the protection of some senior military officers.
