Mon leaders were arrested by SPDC

 SPDC has arrested nearly all Mon MPs since 6/9/98. Nai Tun Thein,
Chairman
of Mon National Democratic Front(MNDF)MP from Thanbuzayat constituency, was
arrested in Rangoon on 10/9/98. Nai Tun Thein is very sincere man and has a
brilliant record in Mon political history. He is 81 years old. He spend his
later days in writing books, teaching about ancient Mon stone inscription.
He received a Bachelor of Seience degree in 1945. He used to serve as a
representative for Mon and Karen for 8 years, 1950 - 1958, based in Bangkok
and was arrested by the Revolutionary Council in 1963 and detained in
Moulmein Prison for 6 years. He was arrested again by SLORC after the
General Election in 1990 and released in 1994. Now he is detained by SPDC
in Rangoon.  For Nai Nge Thein, another senior Mon political leader and an
outspoken one in democratic alliance inside the country, was arrested on
6/9/98 and now shifted to Moulmein. Dr. Minn Soe Lin(MP from Ye
constituency) is detained in Moulmein Prison while Dr. Kyi Win (MP from
Mudon) is in SPDC' military base near Mudon LIB 210.  SPDC is seriously
hunting for Nai Thaung Shein (MP from Kokareik) since he was disappeared
from his home before 6/9/98.   

Nai Rotsa NMSP's General Secretary was called by SPDC leaders to explain
the meaning of NMSP Statement released recently. But SPDC is not satisfied
with the response from NMSP.
