THE BURMESE EMBASSY IN WASHINGTON IS  PROVOKING BURMESE DEMONSTRATORS AT
VIGIL SITE.

  When no American demonstrators are present the Embassy resisdence door
stands wide-open.  Officials and others come out and talked openly and
occasionally yelled comments at the demonstrators trying to provoke the
easily angered Burmese.  But when Americans or others come they hide
back in the Embassy Residence.

  The night before they called the Secret Service saying a threatening
note had been taped to their door.  Yet, none of the demonstrators have
gone over to their side of the street. This note has not yet been
produced for evidence.  The Secret Service has noted some worry to the
demonstrators, saying that it may become dangerous at night time.

  Embassy officials in Thailand are suspected in the assault by
bottle-throwing motorcycle riders within the past 2 weeks.  They are
well suspect that they bombed their own embassy in Thailand a few years
ago leading to the arrest of Burmese demonstrators.
