JOIN THE PRAYER - VIGIL TO PROTEST CONTINUING HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN
BURMA!
DIWA, PABA, FILCA, NaFFAA AND FREE BURMA COALITION invite you to a prayer
vigil to condemn the continuing human rights violations in Myanmar as
demonstrated by the recent arrest and detention of peaceful protesters,
including six Americans and two Filipinos, who were distributing leaflets
marking the tenth anniversary of a pro-democracy uprising in that
country.
The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and various
human rights instruments, for which the country of Myanmar is a
signatory, guarantees these protesters freedom of speech and expression
and the right to peaceful assembly. We call on the ruling military junta
to respect these rights.
