For seven days, Suu Kyi remained on wheels

So dawned the seventh consecutive day of Aung San Suu
Kyi's latest form of imprisonment. We have to give the Burmese regime
credit for being so innovative-a prison on wheels that are not permitted to
turn. They say she is holed up on a bridge out of her own volition and yes,
we know she has "freely" chosen to stay where she is. But the harsh reality
is that this spirited and courageous woman has had enough of the childish
bullying and oppression.
The Burmese regime takes pleasure in actively rebuking the heartfelt
concerns of western governments for the safety and welfare of Daw Aung San
Suu Kyi. I have much admiration for Foreign Minister's Surin Pitsuwan's
push at the Asean meeting in Manila to dismantle the' constr-uctive
engagement' policy in favour of truly open exchange between the Asean
member states. The Thai government did not succeed this time, but by
unravelling at the edges, things may start to change. I call now on the
Thai government to use this same mature determination to attempt direct
discussion with neighbouring military leaders in an efforts to diffuse
the stand off between
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and encourage the regime to see the wisdom of entering
into immediate dialogue with the NLD-for as we rapidly approach the 10th
anniversary of the brutal 8.8.88 massacres, many fear for the security and
well being of our human beings in Burma.

                BEHIND THE TIME

The military regime's talk of the welfare of the nation(Burma) is sickening.
What planet are these despots living on? Come on guys, the uniforms should
tell you that you are way behind the times. Look at the desperate living
conditions of the
majority of the Burmese people.
Alright, you have a position and you have taken a stand. But you need
dialogue. Suu Kyi will neither vanish

nor will her support from the world community diminish.
If you are concerned for the country, then show it by action not words. As
we enter the new millennium, Burma's incumbent leaders are still choosing
to live in medieval times.

                    A la Indonesia

Slorc, formerly known as "State Leaders of Organized Rangoon Criminals" and
now known as SPDC(State Paranoid Deputy Criminals), have ordered their
goons of Rangoon to jail anyone with CNN or BBC tapes of Indonesia. They
have loosened the best spies onto the streets.
Could it be that Burma may be on the brink of democracy?
With the economic crisis as it is, now would be the best time for those
democratic martyrs to make the move.Time could not be better. Where is the
US on this? Are they in hiding? Why not assist those in need?
I guess its the two-faced policies of the US State department and Clinton.
