MANILA, July 28 (Reuters) - Leading nations on Tuesday warned Myanmar not
to escalate a standoff with opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi and offered
to help defuse political tensions in the country, U.S. officials said.

Separately, diplomats said the United States, the European Union, plus
Japan, New Zealand, Canada, South Korea and Australia, confronted Myanmar's
foreign minister during an informal meeting on the fringes of an Asian
security conference.
