World Trade Organization (WTO) and preparations for the Sixth ASEAN Summit
Meeting to be held in December. Seeking ways and means to promptly respond to
less direct foreign investment in ASEAN nations due to regional financial
crisis was discussed with the suggestions and attitudes of private
entrepreneurs and investors, preliminary discussions will be made at the

NLD in collusion with some Western Embassies in Creating A Publicity
Stunt
On 26th July some diplomats and foreign journalists were taken to the site
where the motor vehicle carrying U Hla Pe (NLD Ayarwaddy Division Organizer)
and Mrs. Aris were stopped and requested to return to Yangon.
The allegations by some news agency of the vehicle being surrounded by
barbed-wire barricades, sandbags and a contigent of soldiers were found non-
existent while the party spending the night in the car was also found to be of
their own free will.
Regretfully, the NLD has deliberately and obviously planned this incident to
coincide with the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting currently in progress in Manila
and also to induce participating countries to berate the Government of Myanmar
for its own actions.
It is also learnt that the NLD leadership has colluded with some western
embassies in Yangon and has secured support and necessary assistance from them
once an incident has been deliberately created. This incident will be made a
political issue at the ASEAN Ministers Meeting while the same western
countries will berate Myanmar and at the same time influence others to put
pressure on or at least isolate her.
For obvious reason, beside creating a concerted and timely fashion-action
incident for overseas consumption, an agitation tailored to coincide with the
resumption of the institutes of higher education has also being dogmatically
pursued by NLD for its internal political agenda.
It is quite interesting to observe that these foreign governments have
mismanaged to conveniently forget the fact that there are limits just as there
are anywhere as to how much unrest a person or an organization may stir up
before it becomes necessary for the authorities to enforce laws intended to
maintain and safeguard peace, security and stability of the nation.
