(1)		Thai Delegation Arrives to Attend 16th Meeting of Myanar-Thai Border
Committee

		Thai delegation led by Lt-Gen Sommai Wichaworn, Commanding General of the
Third Army Region, Royal Thai Armed  Forces , arrive  at Yangon Airport on 22
July by special aircraft to attend the 16th Meeting of Myanmar-Thai Border
Committee to be held in Kawthoung. After a brief stop-over at Yangon Airport,
the Thai delegation left for Kawthoung by Myanma Air Force special flight. The
Thai delegation will hold    discussions with Myanmar delegation at Tha Htay
Gyun, Kawthoung.

(2)		Minister for Foreign Affairs Leaves to Attend the 31st ASEAN 
Ministers Meeting (AMM)

		At the invitation of the Chairman of the 31st ASEAN Standing Committee and
Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines Mr Domingo L
Saizon, Jr, Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ohn Gyaw left Yangon by air on 22
July for Manila to attend the 31st ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM), 5th ASEAN
Regional Forum (ARF) and ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference (PMC) to be held
from 24 to 29 July in Manila, the Philippines.

(3)		Opium, Paraphernalia Seized in Kutkai Township

		A team comprising members of Defence Services Intelligence Unit,   Special
Anti-Drug Squad, Myanmar Police Force and departmental personnel, acting on a
tip-off, stopped a non-numbered trawler-jeep, driving from Kyeinyein Village
to Honkham Village, near Phonghsai checkpoint in Kyeinyang Village, Kyukok
(Pangsang) Township, on 4 July morning. The driver escaped. The team seized
three drums of diesel 120 gallons and nine drums of acetic anhydride 331
gallons aboard his trawler-jeep. Similarly, members of Defence Services
Intelligence Unit, Special Anti-Drup Squad and Myanmar Police Force, acting on
a tip-off, searched a motor vehicle at the junction of Kaungkha Road, Kutkai
Township, Shan State (north), on 12 July evening. They seized two bottles of
opium oil weighing 0.3 kilos from passenger Kwam Lint Yon, and seven packets
of opium weighing 12.5 kilos from plastic bag hidden in a basket. The team
also nabbed opium carriers driver Win Soe, and helper Kyauk Yin Khai, Tamoenye
Village, Kutkai Township. Action is taken against the culprits, under the
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotrophic Substances Law.


(3)		Five Million Methamphatemine Tablets Seized

		A combined team comprising members of Local Defence Services Intelligence
Units, Mobile Special Drug Squad for Lashio-Naung Cho area, Myanmar Police
Force and other responsible deparements, acting on a tip off, stopped a white
coloured Condar truck, leaving Lashio for Mandalay at the enterence gate of
Naung-Cho on the Naung Cho-Mandalay Road on 22 July morning.The team seized
2,500 packets of Methamphatemine tablets totalling 5 Million tablets weighing
475 Kilogram hidden in the secret drawer at the front part of vehicle's body.
Legal action will be taken against those involved in this case, it is learnt. 

                              OFFICE CALLS IN YANGON ON 22 JULY

(A)		Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission received Chairman Mr Jacques
Benichou of Winrise Asia Limited (Hong Kong) at the commission office. They
discussed Integrated Sugar Project in Myanmar.

(B)		Minister for Commerce received Mr Hideo Tokuhare and party of HH Brown
Company based in Japan at his office.

(C)		Minister for Livestock and Fisheries received Managing Director Ms
Siriphan Angsuphat and party of Innovators Worldwide Corporation of Thailand
at his office.

(D)		Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission received Managing Director Ms
Thanida Riamprasert GG (a) Ms Kanittha Angusuphat and party of Innovators
Worldwide Co Ltd and Key Link Inter-Trading Pte Ltd of Thailand at the
commission office. They discussed construction of deep sea port and investment
in cultivation of crops, production and sale.
