	                    Rumour Milling

There is a report in some news media stating that the government has
detained (79) MPs during the past 2 weeks. It also went on to say that those
detained have also been treated badly. As a matter of fact not a single person
(a single person) has been arrested but they have just been temporarily
prevented from leaving their respective township so that the process of
resuming of the classes of the institutions of higher learning can proceed
without being disturbed and politically exploited by certain quarters. It is
the fervent desire of the students, parents, teaching faculties as well as the
man on the street to give the children of Myanmar the right to pursue their
education continuously and peacefully which the government is committed to
fulfill at all cost.

There have been a lot of rumours and fabrications created by some
dissidents, criminal and terrorist groups residing abroad and also from some
unsavoury elements within the country during the past few weeks. They have, in
a concerted effort created an imaginary scenario where Myanmar has become a
nation about to explode with political tension, ethnic rebellion, economic
turmoil and social unrest and the only way to prevent the explosion from
happening is for the government to have a dialogue with the NLD. Of course,
the objective of the rumours is to deceive the international community into
forcing the government to have a dialogue with the NLD in the believe that NLD
has the panacea for all the problems the country is facing today. But in
reality reputable political analysts and statesmen with pragmatic views and
realistic outlook all over the world are becoming more concerned with the
irresponsible, unrealistic and emotional outlook and stance of the NLD
startling in realization that this could lead to destabilize Myanmar in
becoming a Bosnia of the Asia-Pacific Region.
