Burma will buy Sino-Pak jet trainers with China aid"

London, June 24: Burma plans to buy 7 jet trainers that also can be used
as light attack aircraft in an estimated $20 million deal financed by
China, Jane's Defence Weekly reported on Wednesday.
Burma, will be the first effort customer for the twin-seat Karakorum-8
jet, which has been co-developed by China and Pakistan, the respected
military magazine said. Jane's said it was unclear whether the order for
seven aircraft included two jets delivered last October for trail, or
would supplement them to form a half-squadron of nine.
The magazine said it was also not yet known whether Burma will have the
craft fitted with an optional armaments package. That would include a
23-mm gun pod under the centre fuselage. (AP)
