(1)   Secretary -1 attends cash donation for construction of Maha Thanti
Thukha Buddhism Centre

YANGON, 1 l April-A ceremony to honour and to seek Ovada from Maha Thanti
Thukha Buddhism Centre World Missionary Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha
Saddhammajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Pannavamsa was held at Mya Yeik Nyo Royal Hotel
this morning, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development
Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.

Present were Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ohn Gyaw, Minister for Hotels and
Tourism Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement
Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister Maj-Gen Tin
Ngwe, Deputy Minister for Education Brig-Gen Soe Win Maung, Deputy Minister
for Labour U Kyaw Aye, Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa, Deputy Commander of Yangon
Command Col Hsan Sint, officials of the Office of the State Peace and
Development Council, heads of departments, disciples, wellwishers and guests.,

(2)   Construction of Maha Bandoola Bridge, Ngamoeyeik Bridge (Thingangyun)
making good progress

YANGON, 11 April Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council LtGen
Khin Nyunt this evening inspected construction projects of Maha Bandoola
Bridge and Ngamoeyeik Bridge (Thingangyun) and gave instructions.

Accompanied by officials of the Office of the State Peace and Development
Council, the Secretary-1 arrived at Maha Bandoola Bridge construction project
site in Pazundaung Township at 3 pm today.

They were welcomed there by Deputy Minister for Construction Brig-Gcn Thura
Ayc Myint, Deputy Commander of Yangon Command Col Hsan Hsint, Secretary of
Yangon City Development Committee Col Myint Aung, heads of departments and
officials.

Brig-Gen Thura Aye Myint briefed the Secretary-l on facts about the Maha
Bandoola Bridge project and progress of work.

The Secretary-l gave suggestions on completion of construction work as
scheduled.

Then, Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt inspected construction work of Maha
Bandoola Bridge on the river bank in Dawbon Township.

Maha Bandoola Bridge. a suspension bridge will steel truss, is 3,312 feet
long. It has 72-feet-wide motorway and two six-feet pedestrian lanes. The
bridge can bear 60 ton loads.

The Secretary- l proceeded to Ngamoeyeik Bridge (Thingangyun) construction
project where senior engineer U Myint Lwin briefed the Secretary-l on salient
points about the Ngamoeyeik Bridge (Thingangyun) and progress of work.

Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt gave instructions and inspected construction
work at the project site.

The six-lane Ngamoeyeik Bridge, a reinforced concrete bridge is 7()() feet
long.

Thc bridge will be built by Public Works to be completed within one year.

(3)   Rakhine nationals conclude study tour

YANGON, 11 April- The 35-member study group of Rakhine nationals Icft here for
home by Tatmadaw flight this morning after their study tour here at the
invitatit)n of Secretary- 1 of the State Peace and Development Council
Chairman of Work Committee for Progress of Border Areas and National Races
LtGen Khin Nyunt.

They were seen off at Mingaladon Air Force Base by Ministcr for Progress of
Border Areas and National Races and Development Affair Col Thein Nyunt. Deputy
Minister U Kyaw Tin and officials of Directorate of Defence Services
Intelligence.

The minister presented dresses for members of Union Solidarity and Development
Association in Aungthabye Model Village Maungtaw. Township

(4)   New office buildings for USDAs

YANGON, 11 April Ceremonies to open office buildings of the Union Solidarity
and Development Association were held at Kahni Village, Mingalun Village and
Kamakaloak Village, Kyauktan Township, Yangon South District, today.

Present were member of the Executive Committee of USDA Commodore Myo Tint,
village authorities, USDA members, local people and students.

Commodore Myo Tint formally opened the office buildings. He and officials
spoke and accepted donations for USDAs.

(5)   Minister f~or Sports inspects stadiums, swimming pool

YANGON, 11 April Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee minister for Sports
Brig-Gen Sein Win. accompanied by Director-General Col hla Myint Kyaw of
Sports and Physical Education Department, Officer on Special Duty Col Thaung
Htaik, Deputy Director-General l.t-Col Thein Aung and officials,inspected
stadiums and swimming pool in Dagon Myothit (North ) Township at 8 am today.
The minister looked into construction of the grand stand, other stands and
offices at Badonma Stadium in Sangyoung Township. stands of Salin Stadium in
Kyimyindine Township, construction of world Class stadium, world class
swimming pool and buildings for service personnel in Dagon Myothit (North)
Township.

The minister gave instructions to the officials.

(6)   Buddhism Courses conclude

YANGON, 11 April Central Executive Committee member of Union Solidarity and
Development Association, Minister for Sports Brig-Gen Sein Win, attended the
conclusion ceremony of Buddhism (Basic and Advanced) Courses, sponsored by
Insein Township USDA at Thiri Yadana Dhammayon in East Gyogon Ward in Insein
Township this morning.

Present also were Executive Council members of Insein District and Township
Union Solidarity and Development Associations, Chairman and EC members of
Township Peace and Development Council, officials and trainees.

Minister Brig-Gen Sein Win delivered an address.

Minister Brig-Gen Sein Win ,Chairmen of Township Peace and. Development
council and EC members presented prizes to outstanding trainees.

Altogether 1,500 trainees attended the two-week course.

(7)   Teaching aids for MMA, DSOH

YANGON, 11 April Professor Kamal Bose of the Natiollal University of Singapore
lectured on Biomechanical Consideration of Anatomic Asian Knee Joint System at
the Myanmar Medical Association building, 249, Theinbyu Road this morning.

The Iccture was cosponsored by Myanmar Medical Association and Myanmar
Osteomed International Co Ltd.

Professor Bose donated teaching aids to the MMA and Defence Services
Orthopaedic Hospital.

Chairman of MMA Professor U Myo Myint and Orthopaedist of DSOH Lt-Col Phone
Myint Htoo accepted the donations.

(8)   Summer paddy harvested in Maubin Township

YANGON, 11 April Summer paddy was harvested from sample field of Dr Myint Sein
and Daw Thin Thin Sein near Maletto Village, Maubin Township, on 10 April
morning. It was observed and supervised by (Chairman of Maubin District Peace
and Development Council LtCol J Han Shein, township authorities and officials.

The paddy field yielded 93.72 baskets per acre.

(9)   Fourth collective novitiation ceremony held in Aung San

YANGON, 11 April- A fourth collective ordination and novitiation ceremony of
regional battalion at Aung San Myo in Insein Township was held at the central
pavilion of the battalion at 1 pm today. First, the congregation received the
Eight Precepts administered by member of State Central Working Committee of
the Sangha Sayadaw Bhaddanta Suriya and shared merits gained.

Altogether 28 persons were collectively ordained and 53 novitiated.

Present were wife of Commander of Yangon Command Daw Marlar Tint and the
Deputy Commander and others.
