(1)		Officials of Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education Hold Advocacy
Meeting on School AIDS Education
		High-ranking officials of Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education held
an advocacy meeting on school AIDS education at Yuzana Hotel on 27 February
with the assistance of WHO.  Minister of Health spoke on the occasion. ?A
multisectoral collaborative effort is under way to provide health education to
all the youth in Myanmar.  For those young people in the work place,
coordinated efforts are under way, for example, with the Ministry of Labour
and Ministry of Transport to provide health education at the workplace.  NGOs
such as the Myanmar Red Cross Society, Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare
Association and MANA, are also involved in imparting health education down to
the rural areas.  ?In collaboration with the Department of Basic Education of
the Ministry of Education, health talks, exhibitions, poster competitions,
essay competitions, quiz competitions, debates and extemporary talks has been
held around the country. Currently efforts are under way to introduce a co-
curricula on providing School AIDS education.?  Afterwards, those present took
part in discussions.

(2)		Human Settlement and Housing Development Department and Super 	 Coffeemix
Ltd Sign Land Lease Agreement to Set Up Factory
		Human Settlement and Housing Development Department of the Ministry of
Construction and Super Coffeemix Ltd signed a land lease agreement to set up a
factory in the industrial zone in Dagon Seikkan Township, at the Hotel
Equatorial this evening. Super Coffeemix  Ltd was formed by SCML Overseas Pte
Ltd of Singapore and Myanmar national U Zaw Win.  The factory will produce
Coffee Mix, Tea Mix, Cereal Mix, Cocoa Mix and others.  The 80% products of
the factory will be exported to abroad and 20% products on local.  Over 300
workers can get jobs at the factory in Dagon Seikkan Township.

(3)		Diplomats Arrive Back After visiting Northern Shan State
		Heads of foreign missions and UN agencies in Yangon and their wives led by
Dean of Diplomats Ambassador of Lao People?s Democratic Republic Mr Ly
Bounkham arrived back Yangon on 27 February by special flight after paying a
visit to Lashio, Kutkai, Muse, Kyukok and Namkham in northern Shan State.
They left Yangon by special aircraft for Lashio on 24 February morning. In
Lashio, on behalf of the commander, Deputy Commander of North-East Command
explained to them situation and development of the region and drug eradication
tasks being carried out in the region.  The diplomats viewed photos on
regional development tasks, opium substitute crop plantations, drug seizures
and destroying seized drugs and opium plantations being displayed in the hall.
In Kutkai, at the Lwesansit Guest House there, chairman of OSS (101) of US war
veterans Mr Peter K Lutken Jr explained to them plans being implemented for
eradication of drugs and cultivation of opium substitute crops in Kutkai and
Namtu in cooperation with local people.

OFFICE CALLS IN YANGON ON 27 FEBRUARY

(A)		Minister for Communications, Post and Telegraphs received General Manager
and Directors of Board Mr Feng Daci and party of Shanghai Bell Telephone
Equipment Manufacturing Co Ltd of the People?s Republic of China at his
office.  Similarly, the minister received Chief Representative Mr Chung Sung
Ho of Yangon Representative Office of Korea LG International Corp at the same
venue.

(B)		Minister for Energy received Senior Sales Manager of Racal Co Mr Mark
Hillman of Britain at his office.  He also received Chief Executive Officer of
Premier Oil Co Mr Charles Jamieson of Britain.
