15 February 1998, S.H.A.N. News

Un confirmed reports have also reached S.H.A.N. that on 11 February night,
Maj. Lern-herng, commander of the Shan unit in the Homong area, attacked an
outpost near Homong (now defuncted MTA H.Q.).

Maj. Lern-herng, according to S.H.A.N. source, infiltrated back into the
area in November. He is said to be a member of the Shan States Army.

His attack on the outpost, 10 kilometers from the Burmese garrison in
Homong, seemed to achieve total suprise. He was reported to have killed 11
SLORC/SPDC soldiers.

Meanwhile, S.H.A.N. is still trying to find out more on the situation from
the SSA sources. The SSA representative says he has not received any
information on this attack so far.
