Than Shwe and Khin Nyunt Head to Ph

Myanmar leader to visit Philippines

YANGON, Feb. 14 (Kyodo) - Than Shwe, chairman of the ruling State Peace and
Development Council (SPDC), will make a four-day goodwill visit to the
Philippines beginning Feb. 19 at the invitation of President Fidel Ramos,
diplomatic sources said Saturday. 

It will be the reciprocal visit to the Philippines president's visit to Yangon
last October. It will be Than Shwe's first visit to the Philippines. 

Accompanied by his wife and senior officials, including SPDC Secretary Khin
Nyunt and Foreign Minister Ohn Gyaw.
