Archaeology in Burma (r)

Dear George P. Baker,
Thank for your interest in archaeological projects in Burma. The
name "Burma" or "Myanmar" or "democratic unions" or whatever can't be
decided at this time because the majority of the people including Burmans,
Karens, Mons, Paos, etc... can't expressed their concerns openly. So, all
people can decide the name of the country together when they all have
freedom of expression.
I haven't heard of any archaeological projects to protect the
ancient architactures of Burma before. May be, because of my poor
knowledge. However, if you can really help something to protect the
ancient things of Burma, it will be very great. As far as I know those
things were sneaked out of the countries by all and sold every where they
can get benefits. SLORC its self sometimes removed ancient pagodas and
then the ancient things from those pagodas disappeared. If you can help
educate all about the value of those, it will be very helpful for
preserving the ancient cultures of the country.
I hope no opposition groups will object if your project is for
helping to preserving the country's ancient cultural values.

Good luck,
Yours sincerely,
Kyaw Zay Ya
