(1)		Minister for Foreign Affairs to Attend Fourth Meeting of 
		Myanmar-Thailand Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation

		At the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Thailand Mr Surin
Pitsuwan, Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ohn Gyaw left Yangon by air on 8
December for Thailand to attend the Fourth Meeting of the Myanmar-Thailand
Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, which is being held in Bangkok from
7 to 9 December.
(2)		Seminar on Credit Analysis Commences at Central Bank of Myanmar
		The Seminar on Credit Analysis jointly organized by the Central Bank of
Myanmar and Deutsche Bank AG of Germany commenced at the Central Bank of
Myanmar on 8 December with an address by Minister for Finance and Revenue
Brig-Gen Win Tin. Also present were departmental heads under the ministry,
heads of local private banks, officials of Deutsche Bank Training Department
for Asia and the Pacific and Yangon Representative Office, observers and
trainees. Training Director Mr Quresh Bengali will give lectures at the five-
day seminar.
(3)		Traditional Attire Fashion Show

		Models including famous film stars and girl students of universities and
high schools wearing different modes of traditional attires paraded at a
fashion at National Indoor Stadium in Thuwunna on 8 December. Patrons of
Myanmar Women's Sports Federation, wives of diplomats, President of MWSF, and
guests attended it. Sponsored by MWSF, it continues on 9 December.
(4)		MCCI Delegation Leaves for Japan

		At the invitation of Takamastu Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Japan,
delegation of Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by President U Khin
Maung Yi of MCCI left Yangon by air for Japan on 8 December. 
(5)		Labour Delegation Leaves for Thailand

		Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Labour U Kyaw Aye left Yangon
by air on 8 December for Thailand to attend the 12th Asia Regional Meeting of
ILO to be held in Bangkok.
 (6)		Research Paper-Reading Session Held to Mark 77th Anniversary 
		of YU

		A research paper-reading session was held at the Yangon University 
Diamond Jubilee Hall on 8 December to mark the 77th Anniversary of YU.
Altogether 50 research papers will be presented at the session which will
continue on 9 December.
(7)		World AIDS Day Talks

		Yangon Division Health Department sponsored World AIDS Day talks at the
Auditorium of Myanmar Medical Association on 8 December. Members of Yangon
Division Peace and Development Council, officials of Health Department,
members of Township Maternal and Child Welfare Association, teachers and
students were present.
(8)		Two Entrepreneurs Leave for Japan to Attend Seminar

		Director Dr Sein Win of Myanmar Timber Merchants Association and Director U
Aung Kyaw Oo (Shaysaung Press) of Myanmar Printers and Publishers Association
left on 6 December for the 18th Kankeiren ASEAN Management Seminar to be held
in Osaka, Japan, from 8 to 12 December 1997.
(A)		Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Saw Lwin received Managing
Director of Air People Tour and Travel Co Ltd Mr Anant Prasertsit at his
office. The Minister also received General Manager of United International Ltd
Mr Alan Tan at his office. The Minister also received Executive Director
(Engineering and Construction) of Daewoo Corporation Mr K I Chung at his

(B)		Minister for National Planning and Economic Development Brig-Gen Abel
received President of Macau Chamber of Commerce Mr Hoi Sai Iun and party at
his office.

(C)		Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission Brig-Gen Maung Maung received
General-Manager of Myanmar Mamee-Double Decker Ltd Mr Michael Lee Boo Seng and
party at Myanmar Investment Commission Office. The Minister also received
Group Managing Director of S & P Food Industries (M) Bhd Mr Dato Pang Wee Pat
and party at his office.

(D)		Minister for Energy U Khin Maung Thein received President of Japan 
National Oil Corporation (JNOC) Mr Kunio Komatsu and party at his office.
